I think I may have to opt out of this, so my space is probably spare TMW. Not enough training, too close to the actual time and it will be a bloomin expensive weekend to travel all the way down, stay etc. Shame. I'll have to pull my finger out for next year. I'm going to attempt my first mara next year at the new Manchester one, instead of breaking myself (quite probable) at Beachy

Stop that right now hipps, making me feel all guilty and everything. I've only done 1 half so far so no chance I can do beachy in how ever many weeks.

a.k.a Billy
Hi Just Matt:) - It depends on your expectations I guess. Lots of people do the run/walk/meander/picnic/sightsee thing at Beachy and some other offroad Mara's due to the terrain and that they are often considered more socialable and less time orientated. But racing the clock at Beachy (I think) requires people to be fully trained and confident or it can spit them out big style. I know of battle hardened marathon runners who have got it wrong more than once.
It is a special event whenever you decide to do it.:)
