It's Humber triathletes lammo. I want to go to a session first before committing to joining and I am really nervous as I don't feel good enough and think they will all be superfit! Also in my mind I am far too optimistic about what I can commit to... and getting a bit stressed...I was all set to join our local gym to use their pool 2x a week. I also run with fitmums once a week and stratred doing clubbercize 1x a week which I really enjoy and is surprisingly hard! The Tri group meet 4x a week which I can't commit to. one night swim training, (same night as clubbercize!) one night running, one evening bike and sat am group run. I am going to have to be selective as I can't do it all. I've signed up for a half marathon in may as a goal as I don't consider myself a strong runner, and I haven't much experience in cycling events. Though I have got a road bike and biked to work lots over last summer /autumn. I used to have good leg strength but gone to flab a bit...
Am I better joining the Tri club and consistently going to their swimming Monday's, meeting then to do running occasionally on the wed and not bothering with the gym to do extra swimming? Or is it best to join and keep options open. And attend the sessions I fancy on a week by week basis and not get too worried about doing the same each week??

Hells bells think it may be miles away I'm based in hull, *goes to look up dorney*. Is it pool swim? Have never swam open water before (up to try it) but was thinking maybe pool based sprint triathlon first

Slowkentrunner if you can swim that far already that sounds good. Think that's what I can do but I have a few stops, mainly to sort my goggles out, Maybe the shorts are worth a try doesn't mean you will always need them. Can anyone at club lend you a pair for a week or so, or are they like underwear??

Ah yes tb bit of a trek, but youre welcome to join us.
I think you’ll be surprised at the range of abilities and normal people cant commit to four training sessions at set times every week, what with work, family and other life commitments.
I think you should go and see how you like the people and the feel, then see how you go.

TB i already have the shorts, i just stopped using them because i found i was getting worse when i tried to swim without them. my hips automatically sank and i expended way too much effort.

Good advice lammo, thanks. I turned 40 last month and going to make a conscious effort this year to get to my best fitness . Maybe having lots of options k can see what I feel like week to week. Will aim to go to their swimming session Monday and like you say take it from there. I haven't committed to joining the gym yet
