Love the idea of this ... it is probably the only way you will ever push yourself to your absolute limit, and beyond! Not sure I'll do one though ... may have a crack at something similar though just to give myself a taste of what it might be like :)

Sam Jelfs - do you think you’ll be doing another one when all this Covid is over? I suppose weather does play a big part in it.

ESRR Pete - I live opposite a park. A lap around the outside of it is about 2 miles with very little roads to cross and a big hill to negotiate along the route. Mmm 🤔

Pinkliverbird - I will probably have another go at one one day, when the world allows. Physically, other than the heat, it was the easiest 100 miles I have run I think. I would like to see just how far I could go if the conditions were right.

It sounds pretty brutal. It would be an interesting personal experiment to see if you can judge where you perform best in effort to rest ratio.

On the one hand, I'd like to go at brisk pace to have more rest but once I sit down I'm probably less inclined to start up again. I'm not an ultra runner but doing something like this locally could be an interesting way to dip a toe in.

PYLLON EXPOSURE do a similar concept where you choose a total distance and the RD texts you every hour to tell you how far you need to run

Sam Jelfs - Good luck if you do another one and hope the conditions are better next time round.

ESRR Pete - It’ll probably finish me off 😂

Kieren - Looks interesting, will take a look. Thanks for the link.

Following the Suffolk Backyard Ultra at the moment, which started at noon on Saturday. Two people remaining, on their 55th lap. Neither looks likely to crack soon.

[Each lap is 4.167 miles in an hour.]
