Hi all, Blister boy is back again for more blister based questions. Training for an ultra currently once I get past her 21km mark I start to get blisters on the inside arch of each foot, toward the front. Any thoughts? Im flat footed with fat, Frodo feet and currently running in New Balance Fresh Foam 860 V13 Im compeeding before I run now to prevent but was wondering if anyone else had any advise. Thanks |

Only advice I have is I took a knife to the insoles of a pair of Scotts that did the same. Not sure I'd want to run a long distance in chopped shoes though, they may rub elsewhere, so not much help! |

I used to go to school with a lad called Archie Blisters. Is it the same guy?

I think I'd use kinesiology tape rather than Compeed and see if that works.

Does this help? (Warning, photos may be gruesome!!!) capewrathultra.com I've rarely struggled with blisters. Last two times I had them terribly were both races - Hardmoors 110, when I think the rock hard ground and hot, sweaty temperatures combined and the entire front soul of my feet were two giant blisters; and last year's Old County Tops when the combination of saturated bogs and hot, sweaty temperatures did similar though my recollection of where they were fails me. Both times I tried to treat near immediately to ensure they didn't get much worse to differing successes. Good luck. |

I'm not clicking on that link. I'm very squeamish about feet. 🤢. Thanks for the warning.

Bleuch, feet. Sorry, nothing to offer, even 100 milers in the wet, I didn't get blisters. Right socks, right shoes or just luck? ![]() |

Oh and vaseline applied to clean feet before putting socks on, and then never change anything throughout race. Ensure that stones and grit not getting in (e.g. use gaiters). Best of luck. ![]() |

HappyG(rrr) wrote: Oh and vaseline applied to clean feet I read the link I myself posted above earlier on today (ahead of my race for the weekend more than anything) and it said it doesn't recommend this. It's not something I've ever done, though previously used a similar Compeed product, but I've heard of several people do it. It was one piece of advice on that page that intrigued me most. Above all else though, I think this is key to prep and prevention from the same page. And may poo-poo the advice not to vaseline. Remember there is no single method to be recommended. What works for you is the correct method. |
