Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

years ago, I used to run off-road in Inov8 Roclites.....then one day I discovered Hoka Speedgoats and never looked back.

They are just sooooo much more comfy

BUT

This time of year comes around and the mud defeats the 5mm lugs on the Speedgoats.

BUT

I dont much fancy using the Roclites.... as much as I'd like the extra grip, I just want the plusher ride

So..... Any suggestions please?

I haven't worn Roclites so can't fully compare, but I find Inov-8 x talon ultras very comfy and they've got decent lugs.

There are speedgoats with spikes to, maybe that would be ok? Maybe not enough in mud though?

Some insoles are quite thick and bouncy these days. If you have room in them, maybe you could try Roclites with a bouncier insole.

There's a newish Roclite, the Ultra 320 vs the "normal" 275. Outsole is the same in both.

The published heel/midsole thicknesses are 20mm/12mm vs 16mm/8mm

ie 4mm more midsole cushioning, but with a 45g weight penalty ( in a size 9 I think ).

Inov-8 themselves currently have a few sizes left in the black colourway, reduced from Β£150 to Β£90

Mudclaws are surprisingly springy on hard stuff. Although they will wear quickly.

I don't find my Mudclaws comfy. They're brilliant at what they do best, but they're much tighter fitting for me and so I use them sparingly.
