Hi, I'm really struggling with my Adidas Ultra Boosts - £130 and super plush in the shop, well fitted by guys I trust. After running a couple of long runs and the Paris Marathon, they're killing me. What was once a 'slipper' comfy ride turned out to be a pair of torture devices.... deep blood blisters and black nails (first one ever). They've done less than 100 miles!.
Anyone else got some long distance Ultra Boost experience?

Back to the shop then surely?
Black toe nails are a clear sign that they are to small, to start with

Yes - this is my plan for tomorrow!....just wanted to go armed with anyone else's experience of Adidas Ultra Boosts...particularly the (small) size of the toe box / whether people with wider feet didn't get on with them....particularly after trying them on first! Ta!

I tend to have to go up a half size with adidas running shoes - well, compared to my stock Mizunos. Last race was a 10mi in a pair of Boosts - PB. Legend! All down to the shoe, I'm sure

"Black toe nails are a clear sign that they are to small, to start with" Other causes of black toenails are available though, right? I've just acquired a black toenail from shoes that have done 300+ miles, having run in the same brand and model for about three years, Odd.

Unless there's an actual defect with them, then I would have thought it unlikely you could get a refund just because you now think they are too small for you.
Most shops are happy for you to take shoes home, wear them indoors, run on a treadmill, etc to check size, but if you've run almost 100 miles outdoors in these then I'd have thought you were way too late to decide they don't fit.
If they shop does take them back, then bonus, otherwise sell them on eBay, or there's a Facebook group for selling runing gear, etc - should still get a half decent price for them

Sweatshop give you a 30day trail in which to swap them, even if they are used outdoors. They are not the cheapest, but really useful if you are not sure what you want.

I agree there can be other reasons for black toe nails but Adidas running shoes always come up about half a size smaller than other brands with the exception of Mizuno which can often be on the large size
Therefore if they were bought based on previous size of running shoes worn (not Adidas) then my experience is I'd start there (I work in an independent running shop)
When you try them on in a shop your feet will usually be relatively cool, certainly after running a marathon they will have swelled, filling the toe box and push against the end of the show. We never sell based on size, but on the room we can physically feel and see at the front of the shoe
I'd also say Fitz, don't believe that brands and models stay the same over many incarnations, they don't, I can think of a number where the following years model is very different to the previous year's, sometimes in a positive way but sometimes negative, it all depends on the individual runner and their running style!!

I might have to come and see you in that there independent running shop, Old Man! I've lost a little trust in one of my usual outlets since they sold out to a box-shifter, naming no names.

In terms of sizing - I have to go up 1/2 a size for Adidas - Not worn the Ultra Boosts but worn Supernova Glides and Boosts and they were fine.
