So what's the story with your tibia? Rest for 6 weeks or is it going to take longer?

I'm a bit surprised that anyone's administering steroid injections to the achilles tendon area, never mind without ultrasound guidance :-O

I hope you make a full recovery from your injury.

This was supposedly to the retrocalcaneal bursa. I had two of them over the course of a few months and they were described as ultrasound guided although neither actually used ultrasound when the needle was inserted, both times ultrasound was used to look at the area and the needle was inserted separately. The first one was totally painless, the second was extremely painful and felt like someone had hit me with a hammer for over a week afterwards.

I only had one anti clotting jab, that was in the stomach shortly after the op.

Aaaaaaah!

Hospital just rang, "We can give you an appointment on the 13th, we don't have any earlier because A&E block book them"

So I was then told that to be seen any earlier I needed to go and be assessed in A&E.

Trogged off to A&E and after 2 3/4 hrs I'm seen by the delightful Dr. Flo, explained the situation to her and my concerns with the protocol from the French surgeon and she went off to have a chat with her boss. When she came back her boss had said that was the same protocol that they would use and that I needed to book an appointment with the fracture clinic. Not at all happy but I tried to book the appointment through A&E and still got told end of next week.

Went back to see Dr. Flo again (did I mention what a lovely young lady she was?) who said that if I didn't mind waiting around she'd try to have a chat with the orthopaedic SHO and see whether an earlier appointment could be squeezed in.

Another 1 3/4 hrs later the SHO turns up and I go through the whole story again with her, she's in total agreement with me on getting the cast off early and into a boot and tells me that it'll be raised at their consultants meeting in the morning and if I've not had a phone call by lunchtime that I should call the "orthopaedic on-call" and tell them that "Yasmin says I should have had a phone call".

Now I'm not going to hold my breath but I'm definitely more positive than when I went in :-)
