Morning. Happy parkrun day. I’m off for a short run with friends shortly. What’s Guildford parkrun like RRR-CAZmas 🇬🇧 ? It’s not too far from my mum so I’ve considered this or the Godalming ones when visiting.

And what, exactly, is wrong with Woking?

At Frimley for one of those number collecting things, got here early in case of parking trouble. Possibly a bit early! Not done this one for years and years and revisiting half hour drive parkruns. Vaguely remember both Guildford and Woking as 2-3 laps of medium sized park... Woking a tad more woody, Guildford a bit more open?

Ive just dug out the start of Peregrinator Surrey Half blog from last year “If someone organizes a race on your doorstep, … well, it would be rude not to do it. So it is with the Surrey Half for me. Apparently, this race was originally going to run between Woking and Guildford, with the start alternating between these two great Surrey metropolises every other year. But it turned out that, while there were lots of people who wanted to run away from Woking, there were not many who wanted to run towards it” Also Woking is three laps of a heavily congested course from memory with elbows and grunts everywhere |

Got ready for a run, went out, ran as far as the local Budgens, bought newspapers, came home. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow.
