Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good exploring :) Did you see Lumley Castle? Lumley family descends from Anglo-Saxon nobility.

13 very bumpy and windy miles from Kingswear to Brixham on the SWCP. Wind was 30 - 50 mph, mostly behind, but a few sideways gusts to make it interesting. Very glad we could choose which way to walk it - as opposed to those people doing SWCP in one go and 'sort of committed'.
And the path was up & down non stop. Never more than 2-300 ft, but no flat bits at all.

Tea now, then beer, then local very fresh fish & chips to come

The very best of luck TM! Your first Half might seem nerve-racking at this stage but you've done the training, you're in a good place to tackle it and you've got a lovely banner to motivate you. Remember to enjoy yourself! xxx

Mandy - very worrying about the dog; no doubt he is tagged?
Congratulations on accidental achievements, - course pb for AT, conquersize for ITG.

Indulged in parkrun tourism this morning. Caught 6.30 bus on main road, all the way to Merthyr Tydfil (arrived 8.15-ish, in nice time to find the leisure centre where the Merthyr parkrun starts), ran it, bus back not due until after 11 which gave time for coffee and chat with one of the volunteers. Rained hard and blew hard throughout; I was already soaking wet when I arrived. Course is all twists and turns and doublings-back, with lots of undulations. Recorded as 42nd out of 43, but the 43rd was the tail runner, so hardly counts. She ran with me for the last couple of hundred yards, chatting as we went. I didn't do much chatting, insufficient breath. 1st in age group, for the usual reason. 40 mins 35 secs, so didn't beat the 40 mins (boo) but hadn't expected to, given the weather and the course.

Blimey that's spiky Um!
Sister is fine, thanks. Went off a bit fast as was running with a friend, but apparently horrid conditions at Loch Lomond today and by the time she got to mile 34 she'd had enough. She's quite good at knowing when to stop (unlike her dumb little sister who pushes on and gets injured...!)
luck TM

Um, the SWCP doesn't get much flatter anywhere really :-) Glad you didn't get blown off the cliffs :-0

Columba, that's a long way on the bus! I wonder if the bus route still goes through Cefn Coed-y-Cymmer, my home village? It probably goes down the dual carriageway on the other side of the valley now. I never understood why the parkrun doesn't use Cyfarthfa park, a much, much nicer place to run. Anyway, well done on your tourism - I've only once got up that early for parkrun :-)

I didn't notice Cefn Coed-y-Cymmer, though the bus did divert into a few villages (Felinfach, Boughrood). There was indeed quite a long dual carriageway stretch.

Elder Daughter has done something called the Fox Run, 27.5 miles through the North Downs, apparently.

When my mum was in her golfing prime she would catch that bus at the end of our road to go and play golf in Brecon. I think those were her happiest years. I wonder if she can still remember them - judging by recent 'conversations' with her, I think not :-(
