Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Costa does cruises as well as coffee? Well I never :)

Ds1 was not amenable to a run, oh well. His exams finish soon and he will have no reason not to accompany me *evil laugh*

Isn't Costa the one that ran aground because the Italian captain was showing off to a young floozie?*

*I may be maligning her unfairly, in which case I apologise ;-)

I saw the nurse about some of my 'sub-optimal' blood test results. As I expected, my blood sugar was too high. Having had gestational diabetes on both pregnancies I've always been aware that I'm a candidate for pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes, but follow-up tests always mean no action is necessary. It'll probably be the same thing this time - they clearly aren't too bothered as I don't need a repeat test for three months. The nurse did say that clearly I was just unlucky as I tick all the right boxes in terms of diet, activity and weight.

She also took my BP, which I wasn't expecting. I pointed out that I'd stopped hedge-trimming to cycle to the surgery, so it was likely to be elevated, as indeed it was. So back next week after taking it myself for seven days, to have another follow up on that. Sigh.

What a faff LD. My Mum always gets elevated blood pressure when she goes to the doc or nurse as she gets worried about it so has to do the week at home thing to prove she’s fine.

My sister is a big fan of Costa cruises, I'm not sure I'd like to go on such big ships. When I finally go on a cruise it will be on a small ship with about 1000 or fewer passengers.

That doesn't sound too bad, LD, but something to keep an eye on.

Yes, it is *that* Costa and we got cheap tickets that very year for that very reason :) It was only a 3 day cruise and the boys have been begging me ever since to go back. OH is not all that bothered about it though so I'll need to bribe him with something else. He is the one begin the most difficult about it (to my slight surprise). I fear if I go, he'll sulk all summer and hold it against me till the end of time. But if I don't go, then I'll sulk all summer and hold it against him...

About This Thread

Maintained by Mandymoo
Welcome to the 700 miles in 2018 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

Join in the chat on the friendliest thread around - all things discussed and sometimes even some running is talked about.

Next year's spreadsheet can be found here - let's fill it up
