Claire PB bunting and more bunting for running it all :)
Welcome home Commandos
Lovely 16 miles this morning, felt like we beasted it till about 14 miles then faded a bit, then she sprint finished the final mile! Legs feel ok, thank you run-walking :) Though nettle stings everywhere, bramble bites and gorse scratches

My training log says 4000 miles exactly! I'm just about to ruin that though by adding today's moles

Miles. The number of moles would be zero

I suppose I might have disturbed a few moles inadvertently during my run, but I don't remember seeing any mole hills...

679 miles, though Corrah is closest to 700. Might have to aim for 700 in Belfast

Welcome home Commandos, happy washing - a good day for it anyway. :)

Nice one Fleecy. :)

Not sure if my race was any prep for fell running in the Lakes next week but I did manage a little PB this morning. :)

Advice, clever people, please.

I have Beachy on 29 October. As last weekend's disastrous marathon proved (if I needed proof), I need a couple of decent long runs before then. I suppose I can include last week as a long run as well, even if there was a fair bit of walking.

I have a 10 mile run booked next Sunday (Sittingbourne 10, club race), and another on 16 October (Cabbage Patch, where I have plans to run with Stumpy of the Fetch Parish). I am going to run to/with/from the club on Tuesday which should total 10 miles, and a couple of run-to-work 5 milers during the week.

Would there be any benefit in doing 10 next Saturday and then the race on Sunday, or shall I ditch the race and do 20 on Sunday (my current thinking). I could then do 14/15 the following weekend. I really want to run Cabbage Patch, partly to run with Stumpy and partly because I like the race itself (even though I won't be racing as such). I was thinking of running the race and then running slowly home, or at least enough of the way home to make up to another 20.

What think you all to these plans?

I think it depends what your target is at Beachy/the other races. For most people Beachy is run/walk because of the hills. If you walk the hills from the start (in fact not much choice there!) then I reckon you will be fine on what you've done (the maras are definitely good training!) Personally I'd probably do a slow 20 instead of the 10 mile race next week if you feel up to it.

Target for all of them is to finish, and at Beachy in time to get the train home (booked for 17:15ish)! I'm happy to walk the hills there - this is in theory my first long training run for NDW50 next year.

I'm not fussed about missing the race next weekend, I'd much rather do a useful 20. I have no target at Cabbage Patch either - running with Stumpy will be a decent run but without trying for a PB.

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2016 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

bunting and 700er medals are often spotted around here.

Happy running :-)
