Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Worried I'll have to reject Beachy Head on the basis of lack of long run training....

Note to self - need to inveigle OH into letting me out for that day.

Congrats to FML and Som for 700. No long runs on Friday or yesterday => no getting to 700 for me :-( Tomorrow or Weds will be the day.

Waves Hello!

Busy weekend, for us and on the thread. Fizz, pissed parkrun, sleep, triathlon on the TV, sleep, sea-bath swimming, home, sleep, work.

Well done to 700-reachers, university finders, whacking great PB's, long run survival, cycling enjoyment etc etc etc!

8 working days left til holidays :)

CStar - I have a marathon on 18 September. I've not done one long run for it. I'm going to aim to do something on BH Monday, but I'm otherwise winging it.

You'll be fine for Beachy. And so will I.

As I've been such a lazy arse this past week I decided to (a) forgo lunch and (b) run at lunchtime. 3 miles, it was too warm, and now I'm famished. I hope OH gets lots of good stuff in for dinner otherwise I'll be throwing chocolate and cheese down my throat as soon as I get in the door.

I did MK a couple of years ago. Some of it was quite nice. I had a bad day and found the endless underpasses towards the end really gruelling, though I think the route has been redesigned since to cut down on those. I seem to remember the organisation was pretty good. I would probably consider doing it again if my knees ever stop melting down every time I run more than a mile.

Molesey - Yes! My father had a copy. The only line I can remember is:

Un petit d'un petit satan lavalle

Or something like that. Anyone puzzled, try saying it out loud, getting a bit of rhythm into it.

I understand some people walk Beachy.

JC - was that "pissed" supposed to be "missed"?

Ran 3.11 miles, exactly the same route as yesterday but took me 1minute 17 seconds longer.

Paula - the whole book was full of "poems" of that sort, all basically nursery rhymes. Worked out the title?

About This Thread

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2016 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

bunting and 700er medals are often spotted around here.

Happy running :-)
