I’m a bit late to the party here, but I remember seeing Gong in about 1973/74 at The Dome in Brighton. I’ve still got my vinyl copy of Flying Teapot & a bootleg c.d. entitled, “Pothead pixies from the planet gong.” Happy days, if only I could remember them!
I am genuinely affronted. Steve Hillage is a great guitarist. He really is. Massively underrated.
Anyway, this is from Green, my sixth form favourite. I took back a copy of yesshows (I think) that would only play on posh record players, and got a copy of Green instead.
Nick Mason co-produced that album, and I think played some drums.
I also had a clear vinyl copy of the proto-ambient Rainbow Dome Music, and the less musically interesting For To Next / And Not Or double album. Which was shite.
