Is there a length of road race that lies between half marathon and 26.2 miles?
It seems to me that that would be a useful distance to cover as part of a training programme, but I haven't been able to find anything of that kind of length. Is it just not done?

There are some, such as the Stamford Valentines 30k - you also get a few 20 milers such as Ashby, which is just a bit further

Yep, got to look for 20 milers.
IMHO they are a good way to test marathon pace without the associated fatigue of those last 10km. There always seem to be a good few to choose from in the build up to a spring marathon (I guess the popularity of London M helps that), but less so as prep for an autumn one.

There is Edinburgh> North Berwick which is 20 miles, in early May each year. Probably quite a good time in the calender for a pre-Edinburgh or pre-Stirling marathon test.

Thank you - good to know there are such races. That Edinburgh -> North Berwick one could be very useful for marathon training!

Rare, and there should be more. Big Berlin 25K (I ran in a double world record race! Not that I knew until after I was back home.)
