BIG cuz, I shall see how my long run goes on 30th before comment Mara pace + 30secs or there abouts today (hopefully). Need to see if I can get sme of your speed to rub off on me next.
The long ones are def the session I enjoy at the time though thats for sure. The fast stuff requires effort, do like them once they are done though. Not done enough of them still but hopefully some of the racing done this campaign will count as speedork.
Whats your runs/mileage like from now till the day? Never really had an option on taper in the only mara I have done before. Want to do more than 10 miles in last ten days this time.

You do long runs at a great speed tho wee cuz! Very impressive. That's where I might struggle. Even though I've upped total mileage and have done some OK long runs, I still think miles 20 - 24 may be scary. We'll see.
P&D say importance goes: 1. Long runs (including mid week, mid length runs to reinforce effect of weekend long run) 2. Long runs at MP 3. Tempos (half mara pace) 4. And only in last place, intervals. 5. Recovery, stretching, core etc. v. imp. And I think you do 1, 2, 3 and 5 in spades, no?!
Yes, my taper is much less severe than last time. I took 2 weeks, zero running before Lochaber! This time, it goes 44, 32, 22. The 22 is 6 recovery, 7 (with 2 at MP as race prep), 5 (with strides), 4. The 32 (this week) is 8 (3 x 1 mile intervals at 5K pace), 7 (fartleks), 5 (recovery), 12 (longish weekend run). So actually, slightly more than I did in the whole of the training campaign for Lochaber!! :-)G
