Just to be clear LorraineS isn't actually organising fetchpoint in anyway. She is just handing drink/bits out to a couple of particular runners. Sorry for any confusion. :-)G

NRGEE
met up with a lady from the North East Marathon Club today to run a loop of the town moor marathon route.
I have always been led to believe that I had to run up one of those 2 grassy hills at the top of the moor.......NOT SO!!!!:-) The so called "grassy hill" is nothing more than a little incline running next to the pavement!!
The weather was perfect for running and i started out with a wooly hat on,;but had to take it off! My new running buddy is very good at distance running . She completed the Liverpool marathon last w/e and her legs were recovered by Tuesday. She plans a 20miler next w/e;but NOT me..........too close to the race. I plan a easy 10-12miles- just like todays run. The last marathon i did was 2008(FLM) and it took 2 weeks for my legs to recover!!
The NTM course is nice and flat( with this one incline).........not 100% sure I'll manage 5 laps;but I will give it my best shot;-)

Ok......I perhaps should have reserved judgement about this "incline" I only ran it once today. I guess I was just so relieved it wasn't that bigger grassy hill!

Thanks for report NRGEE and sounds like injury concern is behind you now. Garmin stats from those running it last year confirm your thoughts today. with only 200 odd metres climb over the mara distance there cant possibly be any hills to talk off. FACT

NRGEE - main problem wiht that inclien is that by lap 4 wiht so many people running up it, as well as being very tired, it is also very muddy and quite slippy which makes it feel like a huge challenge. Still, it is definitely much better than having to run up the Town Moor hills - I still suffer nigthmare memories of having to run them on school cross country events - and that was almost 30 years ago! LOL

true but I cant see a problem with taking a couple of paces forward and onto the path that you come down if it is muddy . mind this year it will be warm and sunny as ill be standing out there for at least 8 hours marshalling . :-S

i see a problem with it, its not the route for a start. it would be an unair advantage on those who have done it
and most importantly
if i had to friggin do it, you lot do to!
