Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good luck for Lakeland then Fireman. Fingers crossed for you!!
Bit like you Gobi I have had horrendous luck finishing ultras in that I haven't!! I'm hoping to rectify that this weekend with the Clyde Stride (40m). Last one I did I got to 46 so surely this time??...........

The only advice I have bedshaped is that ultra's in my limited experience are about whats in your head as much as whats in your legs.

Expect suffering, pain and bad patches and just accept them and keep moving - I wont be moving as fast as some ppl but I will keep moving until I am unable to move or am told to stop. It has not happened yet.

It may do soon though as we all have our limits :-)

Thanks fireman. Problem I had the first time was a tummy bug and ran totally on empty for 34miles. Next one I didn't eat enough early on and started being sick at 38, pulled from race at 46. Physically and mentally I know I can do it, I just need an iron constitution now!!!

Pain? Nah not really. Suffering? Yeah for sure, particularly in the last 5 miles. Bad patches? Hell yeah thanks to getting lost several times and adding on an extra few miles. Still, 3rd time lucky and ultra success at last :D Oh, and no puke - bonus ;)

Nearly 80 behind but the weekend will sort out that - thanks bedshaped I know how you feel I did London to Brighton with a tummy bug and had to dig deep from 20 miles in and only just made the cut off to finish by 20mins.
