Just jogged day 1 at the Lake in 4:00:06 which was good enough for eighth place.

Jono, average pace was 8:15, still need to work on even pacing (did four sub-8 min miles and two 9-minute miles), but aim for marathon is just to get sub-4 hours so hoping that's achievable.

Jen its took me years to understand pacing - and I'd never say I was sure of what will happen in a race. when people on Fetch say things like *don't worry it will come*, well they're not wrong, but its just that sometimes it seems to take ages to get there. wherever there is, we all have different aims.

I think you're right, I think it does take time, and even then I think it can be very hard to judge on the day of the race how you're going to run. I am enjoying my marathon training a lot more than any time previously, and enjoying my running more generally after a tough couple of years, so I reckon that's got to be a good thing.

Huntsman, my aim was sub-5. Not in my wildest dreams did I think for that effort level I would be anywhere near sub-4! Also it includes a toilet stop and shoe change. Probably cost me two minutes?
