Fetch Birdwatchers. That's a good thread...you won't find me on there very often quite simply because it would take more time on the screen. I began "serious birding in 1962 and been involved ever since. No Merlin in my day! Just the Merlin bird itself! It drizzled during half my outing of 3.5 miles plodding today. Warm weather seems to be over and it was perfect along the trails. County cricket....better than 20/20 Donnie1? !! Well done on reaching 433 miles with a bit more than half the year to go. Hope the woods served up some good sounds gg!

TT haven’t been in the Lakes in years, lucky to have a family home there
Went to a local rubberised running track this morning, 12 laps at 0.25 miles a lap, the good thing with the heat is I was the only one there, so 3 miles for the day.

Sounds like a big garden, TT.
I have found an interest in seabirds the last few years, and it’s fantastic to see pelicans, cormorants, swans, ducks and penguins (classified as a seabird?) in my borough (despite it being a city environment).
Someone mentioned magpies. Do they swoop you like they do here? I don’t ever recall seeing one in the UK.
A touch under 11km today to work, did an extra few blocks at the end but dropped short of the whole number.
My partner is flying back from the UK (via your jurisdiction, DubaiRunner) today, and I don’t think she wanted to leave. I was tempted to buy her some marmite from the supermarket to soften the blow of coming back! 😂

Good session DubaiR. Phew, we thought it was hot enough here yesterday afternoon with 27c! Great sea birds to see JackW. Good 11k too. I've only experienced magpies occasionally getting cross if one is too close to their nest with youngsters in it. But they've never swooped on us and they have a nest in the garden ( finished with now, breeding time over!) They are very common in the UK. Swans are not considered to be seabirds but choose lakes, reservoirs and rivers.

I love pelicans! And I seem to be quite obsessed with herons too when we’re at the river I’m always taking photos. I did see an unusual (for me) sight with cormorants last time we were boating 3 surfaced together next to each other followed seconds later by another. As they flew off one more popped up. It seems strange they were all underwater in the same place at the same time.
I’ve not experienced magpies swooping neither I remember the Australian ones being very brave we had one quite literally singing by our feet my cousin said it was after a chip.
Didn’t noticeably hear much bird song in the woods last night but we had a lovely run, 5.8m for me and another 2.6 this morning. Gets me over the 100 for the month.
Where some friends lived in Oman they had put a rubberised track down it was so lovely to run on.

Duo: cricket at Scarborough, no sea view from the ground but you are very close. Literally 60 seconds walk from the main entrance and you're looking down at the sea. Its a wonderful ground, small, compact, traditional and Yorkshire games remain well attended. Its often described as 'county cricket on holiday'. If the weather is good and you love cricket, its highly recommended. I take limited interest in the international matches and actively oppose the hundred franchise competition, its county cricket I follow.
5.3 hot plodding miles last night
I'm relatively confident about hitting the 1000, I usually hit 100 per month, however piriformis syndrome laid me low from Christmas to mid Feb. Should be able to run 550 in 6 months assuming I stay injury free.

Thanks for kind thoughts, Donnie. The past week has been quite 'heavy' with carers coming in, morning and evening, for a trial period, and needing to move downstairs so that we eliminate the risks of transfers in and out of the 'through-floor' lift. Sometimes I get the feeling that death is not very far away. So, very happy to get out this morning for 7 miles. Not completely up-to-speed but a distinct improvement on the two runs earlier this week. YTD: 0819' .

It's seagulls we have to watch for especially in Aberdeen, they will steal food right out your hand.
I like a heron too GG. Usually see them waiting for a fish by the river. They used the mate in part of the woods up by Crathes castle - woods no longer exist as they were blown down with storm Arwen a few years ago.
Sounds like a tough week MrM2.
I had an enjoyable run yesterday, just under 7 miles. It was warm and just plodded round. Tried a couple of new paths too.

Lots of very interesting posts since my 'day away!' Too many for individual comments.
I visited yesterday, with my sister, the 8 Bells pub in Carisbrooke I o W, to meet up with our cousins. It was really enjoyable catching up. One has been collecting our family ancestry history for many years, and brought lots of photos, certificates, family trees etc. He intends to incorporate everything into a book. It was such a nice change for a meet up that was not overwhelmingly about running 😃
Back 'to normal' tomorrow with a parkrun. I'm not sure which one yet though. 😁
