Great run today - right from the outset after managing to sprint start and hit the footbridge in 2nd place. Worked well with Sarah from Springfield who caught me at 1.5m but we stayed together and managed to only lose one place at the very end to someone I believe was lost 'cos they came past me like a train. Still a bit concerned about my HR reading though...my average was 195bpm and max 229bpm!!! That sounds wrong as I never felt anything like I was working that hard. Hmmmm.

Knocked nearly 4 minutes off last year's time to come through in a brilliant (for me) 8th place. Also had the joy of still finding everyone in residence to cheer me in so it was lovely to see Jase, Becks, Peter C, Peter G, Tony, Stevie B and Claire G all there. Also felt good enough to jog up to the start of Leg2. Wow! That felt wonderful.
Bolt
I'm a tad worried about these HR readings. By rights I should be having a HR max at my age of around 180. To be hitting 229 at ANY time is worrying - surely?!?
Tom Tom
Well done for yesterday Gaz-you've achieved my EW holy grail-a top 10 finish!! Wouldn't worry about the HR overly...could just be a glitch.
Bolt
Thanks Tom Tom. Of course it's luck of the draw who you're up against on the day (as in RR vs AM!) but it still felt good to come through with Sarah from Springfield helping me out. I'm very interested to see how Langham goes at the weekend - will try and get close to 41 minutes if I can.
