Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

AOK Frühlingslauf, almost 10k, SRL #4, 2nd in F40

This was quite a change in scenery from last weekend, much warmer, 16°C, so I was a bit concerned about adapting to the 'heat'. The first 2 km were still okay but then I started to feel it when I no longer faced a head wind. My head got hot and I had to slow down. The group I was running with left me, in it several people I knew, Hands Albert, Uwe, Julia, Christiane, Sylvia, Liane. I played it safe and tried to keep a constant effort level but it felt really hard, my legs were heavy and my head felt hot. Once I got back out into the wind, it cost more energy but it also cooled me down so I was feeling a little better. At halfway, I thought that I could probably finish it but slower than planned and I tried to be okay with that. Then I noticed that a lot of people were slowing down and I caught up with them. I ran behind them for a while until I felt that I could run a bit harder. So I made a move and began overtaking them one by one after about 4 miles. The last lap was a battle but I managed to keep up the pace and even accelerate in the final 400 m because I heard several people coming after me. It all came down to a sprint finish that I won by a second. I think I've become a faster finisher since last year ☺️
