Muldentaler Städtelauf Wurzen-Grimma

On a pretty hot morning, I ran from Wurzen to Grimma. The course is very pretty but I had the feeling that I was mostly running uphill ever so slightly. For most of the race, I felt okay despite it being over 20°C. Kevin and Bettina kept me company at 5 min/km pace and that made time go by really fast. Thank you very much for that. We ran as a group until km 16 when my HR reached 175 and I no longer felt that good - slight shivers and feeling dizzy so I had to slow down a bit for the final 5 km to get HR under control and stay focused. The gel I tested was a bit dodgy, probably too much caffeine for my stomach, 100 mg is quite a lot for a gel. I have others with 20-30 mg which I tolerate well so I'll stick to those.

The race goody bag was amazing, got a new towel, 3 packs of peanut flips, a coffee sweet and a voucher for a free drink in a restaurant in Wurzen. Nice!
Despite being slower than what I would have wanted, I still finished 3rd in F40 and got new ear pods for running plus a bronze medal. Amazing prizes. This run is definitely worth the effort, both for the course, the support and the goodies.
