Yog-Sothoth Gonna smash that 40 min barrier if it kills me!

Oh poo - only managed 40:25! I had a terrifying attack of the trots minutes before the off and struggled with sore guts for the first three miles. I'll just have to

Dochart This evening race starts and finishes at the playing fields west of Trethewey. The route, undulating for the first three miles and fairly flat thereafter, follows minor roads to Sennen and back. Club vests from all over the country were in evidence, as holidaymakers like me turned out for this race. After a 5am start, 200m drive and a day on the beach my ambitions for this one were very limited. However, conditions were good and I tagged behind a local runner who was just cruising round at around my pb pace. I more or less stuck with him to record a new pb by 50 seconds, which given my low expectations I was very pleased with. 47/148

phal REALLY enjoyed that run! It was PERFECT weather conditions for it, and lots of fun. Some long uphills and downhills in the first few miles, but the second half of the race was great. Not too far off PB, and as it was a more challenging course than the run I set my PB on I'm really chuffed - especially with some of my splits for the flatter miles of the race. 4th female overall as well :o)

krusty Perfect conditions and lessons were learnt from last year with the fun run starting 2 min after the 10k start. Felt really good and enjoyed race, I felt I'd given everything I could, only downside was the hills slowed me down more than they should have, will have to spend more time up Cofton Park.

paskha UPDATE - my 24th 10K race - I had a fantastic run despite being a bit sore from 200m reps (x16) at the Track last night and I could feel my knees from cycling - it was quite windy and lovely and cool - and I RAN all the way!! (it is quite a hilly course) sorry you didn't break the 40 min barrier Buckaroo!! I also got the 1st FV50 trophy which is daft cos there are plenty FV50s faster than me, so where were they all? That was also the oldest age group for females in this event, so two trophies this week, mostly just for being there!! I would have got them even if I'd run quite a lot slower ... but you don't enter races to get trophies!!

.... SPLITS - 8:51, 9:32**, 8:30, 9:02, 8:03*, 8:34, 1:51 - it's interesting that the biggest gains were not in the FASTEST* or SLOWEST** miles (about 20-25 secs faster) but in the others (about 40-45 secs faster) - that is mile 3, 4 & 6 - NOT mile 1 which was intentionally SLOWER as mostly downhill .....

(My Pre-race blurb ...This is not one of the Cornish GP races but it is LOCAL - in fact it's the most westerly 10K in mainland UK, just a few miles from Lands End - on a Friday evg, it's a lovely course on country lanes. The only thing to watch out for are the children setting off at the same time to run 2 miles (must've set off later this year!) ..... they will often run hard, then suddenly STOP. My prediction would mean a new
