Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

flanker Fantastic race, scenery, marshalling, atmosphere.

And one of those days where I could have run forever. Easy for the first 14, and then pushed the last 6 pretty hard. Loved it. And lots of points for people too :)

RFJ Should be a PB if the wheels stay on........ Well it was a Fetch PB..... just, the wheels certainly didnt syat on.......

Usual pre race build up, food, immodium, fluids and warm up, and pit stop, no problems. Weather was lovely, a bit windy (very windy in places) but nice sunshine. So off to the start with SOAC from RW forums, plan was to run steady and see how we feel, this being my first big test back from suspected viral pneumonia........

Started at the back, then off....

Mile 1 - 8:25 Slow start - great downhill as well.
Mile 2 - 7:53 Too fast but was down hill
Mile 3 - 8:15 Heading out of town (run to the hills....)
Mile 4 - 9:05 here we go, up, Can see it all ahead and into a very strong headwind (help)
Mile 5 - 10:53 Still going up and getting nowhere the wind is bad - plus my guts in disaray - 1st gel down the hatch
Mile 6 - 11:07 Thought was at the top, ha, ha no way how much higher and the wind hasnt let up either....
Mile 7 - 9:39 Finally hit the top as my IBS hits the deck / moor 1st potty stop......
Mile 8 - 8:26 Down down and down still into the wind........
Mile 9 - Bliddy Hecks sake - IBS kicks in again a bridge to the rescue Potty stop no 2, and in a lot of discomfort..... Gel No 2 down the hatch.
Mile 10 - 8:52 down hil but feeling sore down below, 1/2 way 1:33:45 (so not too far off the pace considering) - SOAC has been a star waiting for me and encouraging me.
Mile 11 - 8:27 Hitting the flat bits and down hill bits now and feeling a bit better. The scenery is fantastic and makes up for the pain). The wind is finally on our backs for a while.
Mile 12 - 8:10 A few down hill bits. (Gel no 3 goes down)
Mile 13 - 7:47 - Even better down hill... weeeee
Mile 14 - 9:19 The wind kicks in a bit here in our faces and start to feel it, also a bit of a hill.
Mile 15 - 9:50 really start to feel ill here, but push through thanks again to SOAC.
Mile 16 - 8:35 Caffine gel kicks in (start to feel better again)
Mile 17 - 8:27 Start to feel quite good for the first time....
Mile 18 - 8:25 This is better some consistancy at last abliet too late.
Mile 19 - 8:45 Inc a longish hill so not bad (last gel goes down nicely)
Mile 20 - 12:05 OH NO, Potty stop no3 with the finish line only 700m away, have to go behind marshalls car (thanks marshall)

Finally cross the line with very sore lower guts in 3:03:35.

So just make a fetch PB, thats this race forgotten, apart from the marshalls the secenery and SOAC who even waited for me so we could cross the line together - Thanks mate that meant so so much and the great spirit of running, thanks.

20m in the bag, hard work, but done......
