Roxie My first marathon which was an amazing experience, which I will always remember! ran with 6 other Striders and had a wonderful time in Prague and would definitley go back to this beautiful City. It was very hot but was fairly pleased with my first attempt.

weeble Oh dear. I don't like heat and heat doesn't like me, so 27C wasn't what I was looking for. When I could feel the sun burning the back of my neck on the starting line at 8.30am I had a feeling this wasn't going to be my day. First 10k was almost to-the-second on my target pace for 3:55 which felt completely comfortable, but almost immediately after that things started going wrong. Suddenly started feeling dizzy and sick and couldn't keep up the pace. 4hr pacers past me at about 13k and try as I might to keep up with them their balloons bobbed further and further away - the most demoralising bit of the race. By half way I was only 30 seconds off 2hrs, but as the temperature rose it just got worse and worse. Felt constantly blurry and had stomach pain (never had that before - made it really hard even drinking water, and only managed to force down a couple of gels). In tears at 41k and thank god for the cheers leading up to the finish which was the only highlight in a miserable race. Thanks for the bets but sorry, no pb. I know I'm going to try again though.

abdou Well, four weeks of doing nowt and my knee feels all right. God knows what shape the rest of me's in though. No sub-3.30, but could PB, or could blow up at 5 miles... **UPDATE** Well, blew up at 18 miles. Dodgy knee was about the only part of my legs that didn't succumb to screaming cramp but just - just - about dragged myself in for a PB. Was baking hot and it could have been much better if I hadn't run the first half like a pillock (1.40), but shouldn't complain too much.

Debbie G I'm recovering from FLM but hope to run this with a group of Stow Striders..... if its a cool day and the twinge in my left knee goes away ! If not I'll enjoy spectating and handing out jelly babies :-)

It was certainly not a cool day - but I ran and I smashed my FLM PB of only 3 weeks ago by 12 minutes !!!

I am so happy :-)

Planning to celebrate in style tonight - all 6 Stow Striders had good runs so we're now off to down some cocktails !
