Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Ally2 I would be happy to get sub 10 which gets you top 10 placing in past races.
What a race. Lets get the stats out the way. Came 2nd to a guy who ran 7:48 and has won last 3 races. Half mile split was 3:43. Slowest mile I have ever and will ever run.
Arrived at 5.30 at the church on top of the hill having driven up the easy side. Met the 2 organisers who waxed lyrical about the big hill and registered. The chat among the welsh runners was one of this being no ordinary hill even for Wales. Shit. Was getting nervous. At 6.35 all 42 runners started heading down to the start line which is 2miles away. First mile is flat and was joking with Jt that this was easy, then saw a puff of flour representing the finish , a tiny bit more flat, then the biggest drop I have ever seen. JT, Gaz and I all walked down, wary that our knees could give way. More flour on the road marked the .75mile mark and 0.5mile mark, this being a 1:4 ascent. then evened out a bit before another steep decline to the start line. We gathered for the start with noone eager to go to the front of the line. (compare this to normal road races where the marshalls can't get people to step back to behind the start line). was very nervous now, relieved myself a few times and then the lead car came down. It fired the gun and we were off, i settled into slow mode for first big hill in 3rd place and felt fine on the plateau aswell, then just before 0.5mile mark the really steep slope kicked in, my lungs were popping out and I was reduced to a slow jog digging my toes in up the slope, I passed the cardiff ac runner for 2nd place and was wishing for the slope to end. passed the 0.75 marker , saw dawniebob taking photos and cheering us up to the top, The slope started to become easier butmy legs were jelly and I couldn't up the pace, ran around a few corners and knew the the finish line approached, completed let a big gasp out and held my hands aloft. Dead at the end and had a burning sensation in my throat. I drank the small beer they were handing out to finishers and supped a couple more pints back at the inn. Job done. Pain in the race but a sense of achievement now.
Good to meet Zoom and eat her lovely welsh cakes or is that scones! , slam dunc and the hermitage clan.
