Jigs While other races were falling by the wayside due to a rather heavier than usual dollop of the white stuff, East Garston were revved up and ready to go. What seemed like the whole village turned out to make this, their 1st Festive 5 Miler, a complete success. True, it wasn't a massive entry list, but those who did enter, or volunteer, or both, did their very best and made this a great event.
1 lap of the village, then up a steepish hill made harder by the snow to the Lambourn downs at half way before returning back down to the village via the all weather gallops.
Hot drinks and massive muffins and cake available in the village hall/race hq.
Will I be back? Most certainly.

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs) This was a very friendly village race that went ahead while those around were being cancelled due to a rather heavy snowfall. This was the inaugural running of this race and was excellently organised by a very friendly group of locals, we were asked to wear something festive so Jigs and I duly turned up with santa outfits :) Gobi was 1st V40 / 3rd finisher, Rach was 1st lady/5th overall, Jigs and I finished 7th & 8th and I was 2nd lady, not a bad result dressed as Santas!

The course was challenging but lovely, once round the village and then off towards the Lambourn Downs, a very steep and slippery hill at mile 2 and then a further climb where we were offered mince pies when we reached the top before turning onto the Gallops, the views here were stunning, made even more so because of the snow, a gentle drop down back into the village and to the finish at the village hall. We will definitely be back to run this again next year!!
