Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

eMpTy The weather was very warm and I wasn’t really sure how much effect this would have. Luckily there was only a gentle breeze.

They had changed the course this year and we did 2.75 laps of the track before heading out & back along the Promenade, round the track and then out & back along the Promenade before finishing in the stadium.

Target was to run consistent 4:20 k’s but as you’ll see the best laid plans !!!!!!!!!

Splits were:-

1: 4:00 (6:27) – too fast but not much choice due to the congested way the course goes round the track, legs don’t like the softness of the track
2: 4:10 (6.43) – on Promenade, trying to get back on pace
3: 4:15 (6:51) – coming round top of the course and into a traditionally slow part for me
4: 4.20 (6.58) – finished the twisty bit and back on Promenade, breathing becoming laboured
5: 4.22 (7:01) – trying stay relaxed, breathing not good
6: 4:22 (7.02) – round track and back onto the Promenade, trying to get second wind
7: 4:28 (7:12) – twisty bit, fell into pace of runner in front on narrow path – always seems to happen to me on this course, I’ll learn one day
8: 4:21 (7:01) – back on Promenade, pleased to get back on schedule – missed 8k marker
9: 4:36 (7:25) – suddenly really struggling, breathing laboured legs heavy – blast going to miss 44 mins
10: 4:28 (7:12) – just can’t get it back
(6:41) – extra bit as measured by Garmie but shows I managed a “sprint” for last 385ft.

Time 43:57, made it just.

6 seconds slower than Bognor but almost 2 mins faster than previous course PB set a year ago. Overall pleased with dipping under 44 for the second time in a couple of weeks but disappointed with last 2k.

Hendo My home turf and the course is what I run at least once a week from work. Really hoping for a PB here.

(Might be an idea to keep an eye on the weather - I'm not so good at coping with heat...)

***UPDATE

Well I was on for the PB but somehow lost a minute between 7 and 9k, I think the heat beat me I'm afraid. Good run but disappointed with the time.
