Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Capricorn Great race, lovely scenery, perfect weather, friendly marshals. Just spoilt a bit by the long queues in the hall afterwards to retrieve baggage and medal/t-shirt.

Hollywoof! Day started with panic - I drove round Winchester for 20 minutes looking for the race and getting some incredibly long-winded and inacccurate advice from the locals (when i got home tonight I discovered one of the things in the entry pack was a really good map of Winchester - doh!) - the bus was due to leave at 8:45 and I got there at 8:45....

Then the race started in pouring rain! Only lasted for the first 4 miles, but it did make it a bit muddy and slippy.

Start was slow... the rain and the hills took the puff out of me.

Got to mile 8 after 1:13 - so was just outside 9 minute miles. Decided to stop, have a pee and then to try to pick up the pace.

Miles 9-16 steadily pushed on through the field - felt good because someone had assured me the last 10 miles were flat.

Half way in 1:56(ish)

Miles 17 onwards continued the push, but the promised

Konaboy Very pleased with time considering hilliness of course. Struggled a little over the last five miles with tired legs. Also congested later on single track due to slower half marathon runners walking the hills. Superb waymarking & marshalling throughout & camaraderie between runners was the best ever. Two downsides though, the delay whilst collecting baggage/medal at the end was very unwelcome and the freezing cold shower undeserved. I like this marathon running malarky - might do another very soon.

wozzlehunter pleased with my time , but not so pleased with my performance.
i was going really well up until the 18th miles then had a cramp in my calf and everything just went pear shaped.
just managed to drag my sorry ass to the finish.
