Konaboy Unless the bike falls to bits, I should PB this. I'm a lot fitter this time round & I know the bike section well. ***Update*** I've PBd but not sure about official time. Will update once results are available. ***Update*** Very happy with the result although majorly faded in the 2nd 5K run. Superb event with faultless organisation & competent marshalling. MarkC My first bash at a duathlon, and for my sins I picked an off-road/trail one! Just for the change and the challenge really. Did well on the two runs (both of which were some way short of a full 5k) but the bike (and perhaps me) weren't really up to the challenging 20K course up and down (and up and down!) (and up and down!) the Ridgeway. Chain came off 4 times, back wheel popped out of position once, two other stops for general adjustments with very bad language (apologies to those that heard it!). Althogther a challenging, but brilliant event. Personally I think I prefer the simplicity of running (turn up, run, go home!) I'd do this again though. But not with that bike. Without the series of stops, I'd have been right on my target time, but still pleased to get under 2 hours. Unaffiliated 1:45:00 1:53:58 75.12
Running Fish shocking performance in the 2nd 5k run, probably caused by poor cycle fitness. still, was nearly 5mins quicker than 2yrs ago, (last year only able to do cycle leg as broken bone in foot), so should be pleased. 6th overall, but annoyingly 1 place behind first vet. good to catch up with konaboy again, first time since ridgeway relay.
