That's a good idea to use a straw although I've never had a dog left with one stuck to his face lol. I shouldn't laugh. Would be serious if happened - just got the image of them running around the room!

We used a lot of Kongs when Jess was a puppy - gradually (well quickly to be honest) moving from the small ones right up to the giant black ones, which are only ones left.

Raffo still gives Jess a Kong in the middle of the day as 'lunch'. Personally I think this is ruination.....

A large semi frozen Kong was a great way to introduce Jess to more time on her own. We both work from home, wouldn't have got a dog otherwise as doggy day care would have been an expense too great for us! GSDs are very 'people' dogs, I get very cross about them being used as guard dogs. *gets on soapbox*

I have a photo somewhere of my left arm covered in impressive bites and scratches but I won't upset you all with that one -

instead here's the little landshark as she was then, keeping her crate options open....

Lovely photo. I always like looking back at their old crates and wondering if they could squeeze in once they've grown (might need some bending lol). I wish I had kept my first one to take a photo with her next to it for comparison. You forget how small they once were!

Am sure Callie is a good bit bigger already. Will find out when I put her into small crate to take to vet shortly. She is managing alone time - has taken herself off to 'her' room after lunch. That or she is in the huff since I put a collar on her which even that am humming and hawing about since recent stuff I've read is suggesting harnesses are better.

I hate Kongs. They are gross, and hard to clean, and Rory insists on picking them up and throwing them on the floor for ages after they are empty, just to see if there’s a magic treat left inside, and sometimes likes to use my leg as a surface to stabilise one against while he licks it, which is REALLY gross.

(I put natural yoghurt and fancy peanut butter in them too, mixed with treats and little bits of cheese.)

I do love Rory's -let's say - 'idiosyncratic' ways, Maz. :-)

Even if you use a harness for walks I think you'll still need a collar for Callie for her tags and that? (legal requirement)

He is hilarious, the furry little idiot.

I think attaching ID tags to harness is OK, but obvs it’s a pain if you have more than one.

...and you wouldn't want to keep a harness on indoors, whereas a collar is kind of handy.

I think scots law is legal requirement to wear collar with owners name + address on it so she will just have to get used to it. I thought maybe ID on harness was OK but suppose there is always the risk that she gets out the house/garden.
