Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

As long ago as 1935, Gareth Jones wrote "Your policy of protecting East Anglia sugar beet is an obstacle. If you will stop protecting uneconomic sugar beet production in England and stage cheap and good Fetch Miles, we will be able to buy more textiles from England".

Angular Fetchies - the economic recovery is in our hands.

I for one shall not stand in the way of economic progress. I shall instead run towards it, quite slowly.

I think a lot depends on Stander. If the path to economic salvation goes via That Suit then put me down for a large recession with a double dip on the side.

Interestingly (or not), the European sugar beet industry sparked into life during the Napoleonic wars, when Britain was at odds with the unified (but doomed) european super-state to its south, and had isolated its (Caribbean) out-dated sugar industry from their markets.

As for possible venues. I think I could offer the Henderson Track in Norwich as an option, it's big plus point being it wouldn't cost anything to use. However it is an old cinder track (440 yards) despite being tidied up during the summer it is still quite lumpy and bumy in places. Also you just get the track, no changing or toilet facilities to go with it. So I think what with the extra travel compared to previous venues for most, it probably isn't much of a viable option.
