Windermere is around 7min slower than a flat mara. First 5M-7M has some nice hills in it , you can make up a bit of time on the roll into half way then it drags upwards through to the first few miles of the second half . There is a short sharp hill at around 21/22 and then a little drag right at the finish.

The year I did both - I was ten minutes quicker here than at Langdale.
The slowest of the four times I have around this course is nearly five minutes quicker than the faster of the two times I have for Langdale.
Last year round here was the second quickest of the ten marathons I have completed.
It is true to say that there is barely a stretch that doesn't have some sort of gradient to it but, with the exception of one hill at seven miles and a sharp uppish bit at about 21 (which would be no both at all under normal circumstances), there really is nothing to get worried about.

Gradient? Oh noooooooooooooooo.....
I don't do hills.
Why didn't anyone tell me there were hills in the Lake District?

If I can get round then honestly the gradients are manageable - its an enjoyable run, honest.

I've been walking and driving a small section of the course today. Getting giddy.

I have revised m'race plan. I am going to treat it as a Grand Day Out instead.
Erm, is there a pub?
