Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Poached egg plant, Limnanthes douglasii, I think. Garden escape, probably from seed. They seed everywhere once established.

Loved by insects, esp. hoverflies, but not native; an import from the US.

Thanks jackdaw. I might just "rescue" it and encourage it to spread inside the wall!

That is nice!

We paid a visit to the B&Q near the centre of Newcastle recently to admire the Bee Orchids (about 40) on the grass verge by the bus stop. My rural no mow garden has no orchids of any sort.

I had some orchids popping up in the past but they disappeared. I tried sowing seed but they needs special.microrhyzal funghi to germinate. Also their seed is like dust!

You have to look quite closely (the flowers are on the opposite bank of a very wet ditch so I can't get closer!) - but here are the first snowdrops I've seen this year :-)

Mine in the garden (so not technically wildflowers I supose!) are currently holding their breath in a rather soggy garden.... Hopefully it'll dry out enough soon so that they don't start to rot when (if?) it warms up!
The daffodils are sprouting well, though!

Come on 2021, see if you can match last year for wildflowers and blossom.
