WI in the 21st Century

One of my friends is very involved in her local WI ( thamebelleswi.wixsite.com ) and another is involved with our local WI ; neither is remotely fuddy-duddy. Each group will vary a bit of course.

[apologies but I couldn't resist posting this. There was a marvellous story just a couple of years ago about a guy who was booked to give a talk to the WI about pirates. some of the WI members turned up with eye patches and striped T shirts, only to realise that the guy was giving a talk about the time he was kidnapped by Somali pirates!!]

My mum has been a hermit since Feb 2020 and showing no signs of changing her ways.

I was wondering has anyone any experience (family or own) of the WI? There is apparently one fairly close by (too close to use distance as an excuse). I did mention it but she seemed to think it's all old ladies etc so I'd like to present a modern view to try and encourage her out.
