I view it as around the equivalent of a € 1.29 bottle in Spain. A couple of steps up from the litre cartons at 75 cents :-). Beer is levied in a way unfairly compared to wine, being based on actual strength rather whereas for wine the levy is the same whether it is 5.6% or 15% abv. Although beer will still usually come off best overall. Of course, cider gets preferential treatment, enabling me to buy a 10l bag in box of Old Rosie for a £10 in Morrisons. I'm making the most of it before the hateful minimum pricing comes in.
