If you are 'watching' a thread does it register you as a lurker any time to click on? Does every click onto a thread register a lurker until they go somewhere else?
I'm just interested.

didn't lurker used to be the number of people reading/accessing the thread in the previous X minutes? in which case, yes, if you watch it, it will count you when you enter the thread. but if you enter twice it won't count you twice. i assume?

Not sure ... but interesting that as I type - for instance - there are 9 lurkers. Seven other people currently reading the thread then?
I seem to be down as a watcher - presumably because I started the thread?

No fifteen minus three which is twelve ...or perhaps I am registering my own clicks?
Not an issue. Just wondered like.

"Lurker" suggests to me someone who not only came in for a look but hung around a while saying nothing. there should be another term for those who take a quick look, think "Not my kind of thing" and make a sharp exit, I think.
