I find bands that play guitar-based music but listen to non guitar music (eg acid house during the late 80d) tend to be more interesting! The crossover between guitar and electronic music is a sweet spot for me |

An interesting observation, Fields Was it the case that the rise of electronic was a response to the demise of late 70s-early 80s punk? St Etienne didn't have to 'pretend' to be alternative promoters of 'new' music, I suggest. |

Agree they did their own thing I’m really not sure re musical influences, but I guess that the best electronic would have been influenced by punk AND disco AND funk and many more he genres. And I’d suggest punk is a mindset as much as a musical style. |
