I always wondered what a walking marathon time *could* be so I timed my walk to the train station today which was a bit of a rush. At my walking pace of 6:50 min/km, sustained*, that would give a marathon time of 4:48:20 What's your walking / commuting marathon time? (* I realise I couldn't sustain that walking pace for marathon distance - jogging would be more efficient) Also, I know some clubs do speed walking events - what sort of pace over distance to you guys hit? |

Extrapolating from the 3:23 50k wr, peak walking marathon pace would be around 6:51/mile (2:59:xx)!

Well my wife says I never get both feet off the ground together - and her photos pretty much support that. So I must be sub-3 walking ![]() IIRC some careful analysis of race walkers proved that they basically all ran. The role of judges seems to be to decide how blatant the running is allowed to be before disqualifying them. |
