I think it's perfect, if it was so simple then they'd always be answered perfectly, which clearly isn't the case. It doesn't need to be educational, it's a game show. And whilst some categories can be fairly straightforward, some require breadth of knowledge and mental dexterity, which is a lot of what the show is about.
larkim Aug 2021 8:01am, 12 Aug 2021 15,220 posts	0 larkim Some are easier than others, and often the first in a set is the key one; get the "format" right and you've solved the cryptic bit, then the rest is quick thinking. The rest of the show gives time for considered thinking, a bit of quick thinking at the end does no harm. There are times when it can swing the competition one way or another sometimes to the detriment of a team that has otherwise done well, but it is meant to be entertainment. This isn't the "round britain quiz" or whatever it is (was?) called on R4 which felt like it was entirely designed to be as unentertaining as possible!!
