Another one being trumpetted second hand here: My daughter passed her driving test this morning. First time. Very proud of her. (Also she's been "gifted" a second hand car in gratitude from a patient who's back she sorted out. It was a spare previously owned by the patient's late MiL but still, she's got a car for doing her job well and so she's mobile now and can get more work rather than being tied down to a clinic location.) |

I'm hoping for some payback in the taxi department, minardi, but hoping more than expecting.

Aww, isn't that lovely and what a generous gift to give a car. Well done Ms N Jnr. G

That's great news Nellers! And resonates with me since my eldest daughter passed her test a few weeks ago (second time around but with zero minors - wow). We went car shopping the weekend before last and she gets to collect her first car this afternoon (no generous gifts here - that's an amazing story!) |

I was chatting with a friend's daughter at weekend and she was saying what a nightmare insurance is at her young age - just passed driving test. It's always been expensive for young people though, hasn't it? I think the telematics (monitors that you are driving safely) can bring it down a bit though? G

Oh yes HappyG(rrr), she's 24 years old and the cheapest insurance was £1700 with a telematics thing (from Admiral) after lots of shopping around. Anything else was over £2100 with a huge compulsory excess. Hopefully, she'll have a quiet year and next have a no-claims discount, plus being over 25 will hopefully make a difference.
