Haha I wouldn't call it glory.

Ran 31:03. Attacked first mini loop as normal (Strava says I PBd), respected the hill (6:07), dropped one runner who was hanging on at the top. Probably a little too fast mile 2 (5:43) feeling great and forgetting I'm on a long leg 😂. 3 (6:02) and 4 (5:54) were tough, probably due to mile 2, the out and back and my lack of experience. Serpentine runner came past 'half' out and I hung on then started feeling better on the way back. Unleashed once I got to the point where the legs remerge and legs were happy to cooperate so I dropped the Serpentine runner. Mile 5 was 5:38. Last bit of 0.31 was run at 5:21 pace. A Worcester runner came past (later I found out he ran sub 30), I had motivation to sprint from the bottom of the hill, and it was probably my best sprint there, but the guy had loads left and just did enough to maintain the gap. Once he crossed the line I had no motivation to keep sprinting so fatigue won and I shut down and ambled the rest of the way (less than 10 secs of running) as no one was threatening behind. Was a little annoying to see the time (I don't look at my watch at all in road or XC so didn't know till the end) after doing that but I'm happy with it given I don't target anything above 5km.

I'd still rather have been on a short, pretty sure I'd have PBd and at the moment I'm better at 5000m or below.

I just checked my short leg PB and from the start to mile 2 today I was only 8 secs slower! Definitely short leg PB shape.

I PB'd at parkrun, went for an hour's bike in Windsor park, mowed the lawn, hung three pictures, painted the bathroom, mopped the kitchen, cooked the kid's tea.

Tupperware, Gerp. Tupperware.
