Bassenthwaite lake from Barf on Friday in the glorious weather. Got another 5 wainwright’s ticked off, including Whinlatter where the fire was. Spoke to forest England worker on the way down who said they’d got it under control by then

NE.. many thanks for that info on GG I think we might give your route a try next time. I’d assumed the ‘tourist route’ would automatically be the easiest.. but maybe that’s not right.

Did we descend off Gable Crag?? Well..in places it felt like it.. but no. I should have said North west, but not the path that goes straight to Beck head. (done that one and it will not be repeated)
