Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Clearly some excellent parenting there, LindsD.

I'm shattered. It's been an interesting though exhausting day here at Mum's, bizarrely like toddler wrangling - we've been through every emotion. However, we've hit a calm patch at the moment, just hope it lasts. Highlight of the day was a Skype call with my DD1 and her OH this afternoon.

I have discovered Mum hasn't been taking a lot of her medication properly, or eating/drinking anywhere enough, so I'm not surprised it's all been going a bit pear-shaped. Will be working on that over the next few days.

Not hijacking at all Linds and I think he's doing you proud. I hope you've told him how good we all think he is to take on looking after his gran.

jabberknit - hopefully getting your Mum back on her meds and in a routine will make things easier for both of you.

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
