Barn owl-lets do indeed make a hiss trying to screech noise. Couldn't work out what I was hearing until I realised I was bY the oak tree with the owL box.
I looked up just in time to see a parent flying away and an owlet - about ready to fledge I'd guess- having a look outside at the world why do I never have m phone/camera with me when I see the barnies? if I have my phone they're nowhere to been seen!

Barn owls and chick(s) nesting in our garden / buildings / box in trees (seen in all places, not sure where they are nesting!) And chick(s) multiple is a guess. Heard the chicks not seen them. Seen the adult take flight though. Eerie! G
