Hm. I can honestly say that every capsule that's gone through my kitchen has been recycled, not binned. But if they won't say what fraction they're recycling, it can't be that high (and I don't for one moment believe they don't know, given the way they keep track of every capsule you buy, even if you go into a shop to buy them rather than having them delivered)

I compost mine. But sometimes people give us the alu ones and I put them in the council recycling. I shd probably stop that.

I don’t even get the “why?” of this. I’ve got a perfectly good De Longhi espresso machine in my kitchen, about six feet from where I’m sitting, that cost only a little over £100. Given the price of a Nespresso machine, plus the inflated cost of the capsules, what’s the point?

I looked at espresso machines based on reliability, reasonably low price, ease of use compatible with using in a hurry in the morning before work, and decent tasting output. I didn't find one for anything near £100. Weekends, I grind beans and use either filter machine or a stove top pot.
