My next purchase is my summerhouse. Hopefully I can order it by the end of the month and that will be spending done for this year. If my inheritance comes through by the end of the year I may have another treat. 😉

A summerhouse will be amazing. As we both now work from home full time I’m finding home a source of stress whereas I could leave the crap at the office door. It’s not helping how I feel atm |

I can relate to that one, gg. Working from home becomes sleeping at the office.

I have never liked working from home, too many distractions. Back on the car thing, I haven't had one for a number of years. I gave my Audi to my eldest son when I retired and we exist using my wife's little VW Up. I have my VW van of course, but it doesn't get much use nowadays. |

We will run my old company car until it falls apart and then probably not replace it. We already actively try to avoid using it and did only 2000 miles last tear.

On a complete change of direction, it’s no secret that we have our bolthole in Portugal but we saw yesterday that the Vuelta will be passing within a kilometre of our front door over there on Sunday (stage 2). Bad planning there I think 🙄.

We do 10,000 in the car but that’s almost entirely going back and forth to Southampton to see Sue’s mum. That I fear will change at some point.

I think a map of where I've driven would show mostly, to & from Liebling's parents near Chichester, and then to/from our boys in Birmingham and Cambridge. Occasional offshoots to holiday destinations. We haven't managed one this year, yet.

I haven't driven for almost 5 years, thanks initially due to the COVID pandemic, and then I sold the car 2 1/2 years ago because I wasn't using it and had no need to drive. When I was working, I drove only 3,000 to 4,000 miles a year, mainly for emergency on-call call outs and to visit far off relatives. Once I left work, since my parents were now dead the mileage plummeted to only 500-700 miles a year, mostly for races. |
