Thanks all, still on a massive high from it; browsing gofar and thinking about next adventure already .. Agree the elevation total is definitely odd - should be about 8500m. Per-km ascent and descent looks about right though. I reported it to Fetch a while ago, assume it's somewhere on his to-do list |

He did a post recently on problems with elevation calculations I think.

It disnae work if you have "Use watch elevation" ticked in the Training Settings - which is rather annoying. If you untick that box and let fetch calculate it, then it gets a reasonable figure for "normal" length runs, but for super long runs like a Ramsay then think it could be quite a bit off as it's limited to the number of calls it can make to a database of known heights for given grid references ( that's my understanding, apologies if any of that's wrong ) |

Formidable, what a runner. Presumably his wrist is healed? Or did he run it in a cast? It wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, his cast came off about a week ago. Wonder if he has another go at a BGR in mind for this year, or is the bracken too high now and best for may/June ? |

The same thought occurred to me. I don't think that bracken is that much of an issue on the BGR route to be honest and everyone knows that August is the best time to do it, somewhere around the middle of the month 🙂

My mate was doing a big day in the Cairngorms himself & bumped into FW. He said he was covered in blood after a bad fall, amazingly his last few full k’s were sub 4!

Pretty much on the quiet Jasmin Paris put up a round of 29 Munros in 24 hours on Saturday in the Cairngorms to set a new female record (the previous record was her Ramsay round). Her round was a subset of the circuit of 31 pioneered by Jim Mann in 2017 and extended by Sasha Chepplin last year to 33 and then by Kim Collinson recently to 34. (I haven't seen yet which Peaks she included?).

Wow, very impressive stuff from Finlay and Jasmin. Scottish rounds are always done on the quiet, it seems Wonder why Finlay set out at 1:30am? He was clearly fast enough to run it in daylight - mitigating the effects of heat, or maybe ran faster than he expected? Was it solo? |
