RS, you have good taste - I just LOVE Millie Jackson. The "House for Sale" track I always find very poignant. If you want to hear more, Kent do a brilliant compilation of her Spring recordings.
Sam Dees is classic Northern Soul, but Little Tommy - wow, what a choice! From memory that's pretty rare isn't it? I could be wrong but I think it was one of the Stafford biggies and to my regret I never went, during that period of my life I was pretty much confined to the Falkland Islands and missed it all.
Just in case anyone is wondering what the hell I'm talking about, after Wigan Casino closed there was a huge void in the Northern Soul world and it was filled (albeit on a smaller scale) at an old "Top o' The World" ballroom in Stafford. It had a reputation for new sounds and a new kind of music, Little Tommy is a good example I think.
You know, I used to have a copy of that Ruby Andrews record. It was on Zodiac and I sold it for a pittance. Should have held on (if you'll pardon the pun).
I thought I might indulge of my "other" passion for your entertainment
