I also like this a lot. Jackie Wilson's music really did span the decades didn't it? I was listening to some of his stuff just the other day and thought what a eclectic blend it all was.
Spanned the decades is a great summary. I was reading up about his life and didn’t know the story of his demise. He’s another great artist like Marvin Gaye or Jimi Hendrix or Ian Curtis (!) where you wonder what more he might have achieved if he’d have lived longer
Mmm, I remember hearing that one on a Chess comp and I don't know how to place it. I know the deep soul guys would just love it, but the off-key backing vocals don't work for me ..... not that that's unusual, it's very often the case and the "flaw" is what makes the soul of the record so special.
